“In matters of healing the body or the mind, vacation is a true genius!”

Well, I have a bad habit for not writing my travel report right after I finished the trip. Not that I’m a procrastinator, but, yeah, so many things to do. Whatever hahahaha.
Anyway, this time I want to tell you about my trip to Pahawang Island on April 2014, about 4 months ago. Let me tell you, Pahawang Island is really really damn beautiful! I’m not exaggerating it, Pahawang Island is indeed very beautiful, well at least for me hahahaha. For your information, this island is more likely to pure and undeveloped which makes this island feels quite and peaceful.
I went there around late April, right after I finished an event from my work at Bandar Lampung. From the beginning, me and my workmates decided to extend a couple of days for a vacation due to our exhaustion of preparing the event. Fortunately, our local partner in Bandar Lampung is a local NGO (Mitra Bentala) that has an access to get there. Actually, since 1997 they have already assisted Pahawang people to conserve damaged mangrove forest there. As time goes by, the tourism potency is developing, hence Mitra Wisata was formed to handle the tourism business professionally. In short, we went to Pahawang Island using Mitra Wisata service.
It costs around IDR 300,000 – 500,000 per person (depends on how many people join the trip, the more the cheaper it gets). By paying that cost, you can enjoy the beauty of Pahawang Island and other nearby small islands by boat, including snorkeling, meals, and lodging. Even though they also provide underwater camera, but don’t forget to bring your own camera for your own sake of personal satisfaction hahaha.
It’s about 45-60 minutes from downtown to get to Ketapang Dock which is only a small dock located in Lampung Bay. We crossed the sea for about an hour. It was around 5.30 pm and I laid my body down on the deck and believe me, the view was simply amazing. It was a sky full of stars. When we reached the island, we had to take a little walk to get to the lodge. After we reached it, we had dinner together with a lot of conversation, but since we have to wake up very early in the morning, so we called it a night. Anyway, the lodging is a really simple wooden cottages, but it was nice. However, you better bring mosquito repellent lotion.
On the second day, we spent our time enjoying a hidden paradise in Bandar Lampung, simply and solely, Pahawang Island. We went around the island using a boat, soaking up the warming sun, enjoying the view of crystal blue water with beautiful islands surrounding it. Then we also spent hours of snorkeling. It was my first time and I enjoyed it! Hahahaha. We also spent some of our time just lazing on the white sand.
I know I can’t describe it pretty well, but heck yeah it was amazing. More importantly, my trip to Pahawang Island was such a pleasure because it’s a huge refreshment after an intense time of working. It’s totally paid off. You know what, people tend to forget to seriously spend their a little bit of time for a vacation. Yes, they think about it, but a few that actually really allocate their time for it with so many excuses. Personally, no matter how hard you’re dealing with your work, atmosphere shifting through a day off or simple vacation is indeed needed. Go treat yourself some pleasure.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for a quite and peaceful place for a runaway vacation, I recommend Pahawang Island as an option. Enjoy!
